Courage

There are deadly animals and creatures lurking at night and water is nowhere to be found. These men had a lot of fortitude to survive this ordeal.
Determination
The men in this story were definitely determined. They had a goal - a better life - and did everything to reach it. It is such a difficult travel and some of them were actually able to succeed, which is impressive.
