    An Epilogue to The Dark Child

    Creative Writing

    Objective:

    Students will use facts, historical context, and their imaginations to write a formal epilogue to the memoir.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.3, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.3, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.5

    Structure:

    Students will write an epilogue to the memoir about Camara's time in France. They should use the internet to find out as much as they can about his life: how long he was there, how long he studied, what he did there before returning to Africa, etc. They should also use what they know about him from The Dark Child, including his personality, his relationships, events...
