What is the relationship among science, faith and fairy-tale in The Conjure Man Dies by Rudolph Fisher?

Frimbo is the conjure-man being referred to in this book and his death is a mystery. The name conjure-man is related to magic in every aspect because of its dark side of representation. Besides being construed as a magical man by those around him, the conjure-man graduated from Harvard University a secret that lets the reader know that he is an educated man. Frimbo is a devoted church worker and evangelist. Similarly, he is a philosophical student and he is learning more about God’s ways. From the science perspective, Dr. Archer is working together with Perry Dart are trying to investigate the mysterious death of Frimbo. Therefore, the story of Frimbo (conjured-man) revolves around magic, religion, and science.

Why is Dr. Archer considered as economically unstable by the author?

Dr. Archer has spent most of his time working alongside detective Perry Dart to uncover the mysterious death of conjure-man. Instead of focusing on his career to generate wealth, he has dedicated his time to what the reader considers charity.
