Throughout the study of The Color Purple, students with disabilities should have the option of using dictation software for writing assignments, and text-to-speech software for reading assignments.

In Day 1's activity "Lesson in Dialect," students can use a speech app to record their words and translate them into text, and will use a smart board to record their thoughts.

In Day 2's activity "Blues Exploration," students can use the internet to explore blues musicians and blues music popular during the time period. They may also use design software for their quilt squares.

In the Day 3 activity "Race in Poetry and Prose," students may use a class blog or document-sharing site to share...
