Well recognized for his prowess, he has been the proud recipient of many awards including the Hemingway Foundation/PEN award and the Whiting Award.
Cronin is best known for The Passage trilogy of which The City of Mirrors is the final book. It's a horror series which features vampires, published by Ballantine Books. While critics historically have decried vampire books, they tend to favor Cronin's work. The trilogy has been widely read for several years now and is in the process of being picked up by Hollywood. Ridley Scott is supposed to direct a film series soon based upon the three books.
