Henry is forty-five year-old Californian. He hosts the narrator and emboldens him to wait for his wife so that he can be acquainted to her.
Tom
Tom is miner who arrives at Henry’s cabin and inquiries about Henry’s wife’s arrival. He listens, alongside the narrator, the letter from her declaring her coming.
Joe
Joe is Henry’s comrade who comes to Henry’s cabin on Friday to actualize the groundwork for welcoming Henry’s wife on Saturday.
Charley
Charley is one of Henry’s contacts who aids him navigate his anxieties as regards the safety and advent of his wife.
