The Beautiful Struggle

The Beautiful Struggle Analysis

The Beautiful Struggle is a life story of hardship and progress. It is about black boy, who made his way to success despite unwillingness, clear protest against society and self-degradation. It is a memoir, and the second name of it describes the theme of the novel – A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood. Ta-Nehisi grew up in Baltimore, in the 1980s, the time of developing of hip hop culture, street bands, and constant struggle between black people and white people who didn’t understand each other.

This is a very educative story. It teaches people the importance of a personal moral compass and moving forward, progressing despite unpleasant social and historical obstacles. The main idea of the book is that one have to struggle for one’s dream and never stop learning because knowledge is power: this struggle for success is the beautiful struggle because it changes person and makes him or her better.

Despite his and his brother’s Bill difficulties, ups and downs, both of them in the end entered Howard University like their parents wanted for them. One day, Ta-Nehisi realized that although they grew up in bad company, surrounded by violence, racism and hate, they both could get out from that and now they are college students with bright future and life prospects. So, everything is possible and humans can reach fulfillment much no matter what obstacles they had on their way.
