The Atlantis World (The Origin Mystery Book 3) Characters

The Atlantis World (The Origin Mystery Book 3) Character List

Dr. Kate Warner

Kate is the protagonist of the Origin Mystery series; she is a brilliant geneticist who has nearly single-handedly saved the human race multiple times, but the threats just keep growing and returning. She is part Atlantean, as she has been suspended by a resurrection tube and retains the memories of Isis, the Atlantean scientist who saved humanity by injecting them with the Atlantis gene, the same injection that accidentally spelled the end of her own people.

David Vale

David, Kate's love interest, is the brawn of the operation. An ex-military soldier, he stays true to his ideals with a determination that borders on unreasonable stubbornness. He is revealed to be the crucial character in the defeat of the Serpentine Army: his sheer willpower is enough to resist the Serpent's assimilation, and his DNA breaks it apart from the inside.

Dorian Sloane

Dorian is one of the series's most complex characters. He first appears in The Atlantis Gene as a minor villain in the Nazi stronghold in Antarctica, where he and David kill each other. In the second novel, he is resurrected as an aid to Ares, the Atlantean war general with an evil plan. In this novel, he assumes even more responsibility and solidifies himself as a villain before changing his mind and switching loyalties, killing Ares to save the human race.

Ares

Ares is an ancient Atlantean war general with mysterious motivations. Accidentally partially responsible for his own species's demise many years earlier, he takes out his rage on Isis and Janus, the scientists who are also responsible, and commits horrible atrocities on Earth in the attempt to forge a human so strong-willed that he can resist the assimilation into the Serpentine Army. Ares is the major villain for most of the series, and he allows himself to die when it becomes clear that his plan isn't working.

Mary Caldwell

Mary is an astrobiologist who picks up signals of extraterrestrial intelligent life and immediately calls Paul, who gets into contact with Kate. Her discovery launches the actions of our protagonists in this final mission to save humanity.

Dr. Paul Brenner

Dr. Brenner is the director of a major disease-fighting division of a powerful organization, and he is the contact by which Mary reaches out to Kate. He is Mary's ex-spouse, leading to some awkward moments, but when it really counts, they come through for each other and for humanity.
