The alchemist and the boy head for the pyramids. The alchemist explains that the only way to learn is through action. As they travel, the boy learns more and more, sometimes through his own inquiry, and sometimes through conversation with the alchemist.
One lesson is that before he reaches his treasure, he will be tested thoroughly. This is the point where most seekers give up, just before they reach the final chapter. It is a test of everything they have learned along the way.
