For this exercise, students will keep journals of their thoughts and reactions to the chapter set. Unlike traditional journals, however, these journals are to be written from the perspective of one or more of the novel's characters.
Students will inform the teacher ahead of time of their choice of role for the journal. Tell students that the general goal is to assume the "voice" of the character, rather than using their own voice.
