Bobby
Bobby is a young sparky guy with a lot of potential and power, and he doesn't understand why people in his community don't feel as he does. He learns from the Europeans and Americans, and he can usually find someone friendly to connect with, but that doesn't mean his point of view translates to his community. He is asked to decide difficult decisions without their support, and he must analyze his opinion for its objective merit.
The Elders
The Elders are the tribesmen who challenge Bobby to settle his fate. Is he going to defend his alliance to his new friends, because they are human and because there is obviously worth-while cultural value to both sides if they stay in community, or will Bobby succumb to the group, these Elders who say that Noongal's are either in or out. The Noongal tribe represents a kind of hostility caused by fear of the unknown.
The Americans
The American whalers come to town and, at first, when the whole communities accept each other, it seems that trouble has been avoided. However, the Americans and the Europeans live in a way that the tribes consider evil and wrong, and vice versa. The Americans have a different approach to business ethics than the aboriginals who don't understand the value of power through economic gain.
