Chapter 11 - Fluids - Check Your Understanding - Page 295: 11

Answer

$\therefore$ No, We cannot float more easily in water on this planet than on earth, In fact, we will float in the same way on both the planets

Work Step by Step

For floating the Buoyant force must be equal to the Weight of the man. $$F_B = W_{\text{man}}$$ $$F_B = M_{\text{man}}\times g$$ Also $$F_B = \rho_{\text{liquid}}\times\ V_{\text{man}}\times g$$ $$\therefore M_{\text{man}}\times g= \rho_{\text{liquid}}\times\ V_{\text{man}}\times g$$ From the above Equation 'g' will get cancelled Hence, we cannot float more easily in water on this planet than on earth.
