While this seems right in everyday life, it is not actually the correct view, for motion will continue unless the object is acted upon by an outside force. For instance, it seems that a car will not continue to go forward unless the gas pedal is applied. However, if it were not for forces, such as friction and drag, the car would keep going without any force acting on it. Therefore, if there is no force on an object in motion, it will continue to be in motion.
