Alkenes go through hydrogenation reactions in which the double bond in alkenes is converted to a single bond by the addition of Hydrogen atoms in the presence of a catalyst. ie. C=C --> C-C.
In this reaction, H atoms are added across the C=C to form -CH2-CH3. In this way, an unsaturated hydrocarbon is converted into a saturated hydrocarbon.
