Dodos were driven to extinction by over harvesting and introduced species.
Dodos were abundant in the Mauritius island. When the Dutch sailors arrived, they killed the birds for food and this continued for years. The sailors also introduced other animals common in their ships like rats, cats and so on. These species also disturbed dodos and their habitat. This is what ultimately lead to the extinction of these birds.
