Chapter 5 - An Introduction to Carbohydrates - Review - Page 117: 5

Answer

C

Work Step by Step

Monosaccharides are defined as organic compounds that have many hydroxyl and carbonyl groups. Though few Monosaccharides possess the same molecular formula, their spatial arrangement offers certain differences in the structures of their molecules. These Monosaccharides, sometimes, form ring-shaped structures so that they can differ from other molecules in the groups of hydroxyl orientation. Such orientation can be seen among the same Monosaccharides.
