Chapter 9 - Review Questions - Page 198: 2

Answer

Ectoprocts and entoprocts differ from one another in numerous ways. For example, in ectoprocts, the anus is located inside the crown of the tentacles whereas entoprocts have their anuses outside the crown. The two differ in size, as well. Entoprocts are about 5 mm in length, while ectoprocts are less than 0.5 mm in length. Ectoprocts have an exoskeleton while entoprocts do not. All entoprocts are sessile, while some ectoprocts have the ability to slide/crawl. Ectoprocts form community-like colonies, whilst entoprocts do not do this behavior. Finally, entoprocts are stalked and ectoprocts are not.
