Chapter 2 - Review Questions - Page 61: 12

Answer

With this form of mimicry, the moths can fool predators, such as birds and other insects that might eat these moths. They look like wasps, but they have no actual ability to sting or bite. The adult moths have only sucking mouthparts and no jaws. It is called Batesian mimicry

Work Step by Step

Two or more types of poisonous or venomous species can develop similar appearances in order to get the advantage of protection. This works because predators can learn to avoid all of them when they have bad experience with one of them. This way these animals increase their chances of being recognized by predators and being left alone. This is called Mullerian mimicry
