Fungal and human life cycle are in part opposites— humans spend most of their life cycle as diploid organisms and only have haploid sex cells for a short time while fungi are haploid for most of their life cycle (sexual or asexual) and are diploid only for a short time. Also, fungi have a heterokaryotic stage which is absent from the human life cycle.

Look at Fig. 31.5 and Fig. 13.6 and make a list of the differences you see. You can list all of the stages for each lifecycle and highlight stages not in one or the other. You can also pay special attention to the color coding of haploidy and diploidy.
