Answer

Water (H2O) is one of the most important substances in the body. By weight, water makes up 60 to 65 percent of the composition of an adult human body . it has so many vital functions that the average human could not survive for more than five to seven without water to drink. Water is the major solvent of the body ; as such it plays important roles in the work of hormones and enzymes, in absorption of nutrients and in the elimination of waste. The electrolytes of the fluids of the body that facilitate perception, neural activity, and muscular action all exist in aqueous solutions; moreover, in hydrolytic catabolic chemical reactions, water is essential, Waste removal from the body in micturation as well as in defecation, utilizes water to varying amounts, as a solvent, as a transport medium, and for lubrication. Lubrication is even more significant in the functions of mucus and mucus membranes that decrease friction in thoracic, abdomino-pelvic pericardial and pleural cavities, and promote flow in the GI and GU tracts. Water is important as intracellular and intracellular fluids . As intracellular fluid it is the chief component of the watery cytoplasm in which the nucleus, mitochondria and other cell organelles are suspended. Lymph and plasma are mostly water and as such water is important in immunological and respiratory functions . Another important function of water is that of temperature regulation . First, because of its high specific heat, water retards sudden great increases in temperature; consequently water in the blood and cells protects the body against spikes in temperature which could disrupt the body's temperature homeostasis and damage brain and other vital organs and processes. Second, perspiration is a mechanism by which water helps the body to cool down in hot weather and after vigorous exercise. When sweat gets to the skin surface and water bonds break, energy is released, and as is usual in evaporation, heat is lost and the body cools. Water, or aqueous solutions protects from tissue damage in several ways:The cerebro-spinal fluid of the central nervous system protects the brain and spinal cord from shocks and wounds and from physical injury; synovial fluid of joint cavities and aqueous and vitreous humors of the eye serve both lubricant and protective functions. Finally, human life begins in l in a watery fluid-- the amniotic fluid in our mothers' wombs. This fluid performs almost all the important functions of water; women , maybe rightfully refer to it as " water" in the colloquialism " My water broke" to refer to the beginning of labor of child birth. It should also be remembered that milk which is mainly a suspension of lipids in a solution of proteins is the watery sustenance for the first few days of human life

Work Step by Step

Water is indispensable for human life. By weight this substance forms 50 to 60% of the body of an adult human. Water is the most important solvent in the boy. Nutrients, hormones, enzymes, wastes(toxins), electrolytes are carried in water solutions. Lubrication is also an important function of water, This is demonstrated by the function of the mucus and mucus-lined cavities in thorax, abdomen, pelvis, joints central nervous system and sense organs. Cellular contents of cytosol are in aqueous solutions and so cell metabolism and respiration depend on water. Water because of its great latent heat assists in maintain the body,s temperature homeostasis and helps in keeping the body cool by perspiration and heat loss by evaporation of water vapor from the skin. Water is also vital in reproduction. Babies develop in the amniotic fluid of a womb, and are sustained during their first few days of life by milk which is an aqueous solution/suspension.
