The sternal region is medial to the pectoral region. The sternal region is where the breastbone is and the pectoral region is where the shoulder and the pectoral muscles are. Medial means towards the medial plane. The sternal region is closer to the midline than the pectoral region and thus we say the sternal region is medial to the pectoral region.
