Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is caused by blockage of blood circulation in the brain. Its symptoms are hemiparesis (one-sided paralysis) and damage to speaking ability and speech comprehension. It causes permanent damage to brain tissue. Transient ischemic attack (TIA) is caused by temporary (transient) restriction of blood flow in the brain. Its main symptoms are numbness, paralysis, and speech impairment. It can cause temporary decrement in the neurological function of the brain and generally no permanent damage occurs.
