Since the length and width of the object are different it is a rectangle. Area of a rectangle: $A$ = $l$ * $w$ $A$ = 8 cm * 17 cm $A$ = 136 cm$^{2}$ Perimeter of a rectangle: $P$ = 2$l$ + 2$w$ $P$ = 2(8 cm) + 2(17 cm) $P$ = 16 cm + 34 cm $P$ = 50 cm
