Chapter 4 - An Introduction to Functions - Chapter Test - Page 285: 5

Answer

Table of Values: 1. (1, -1.5) 2. (2, 0) 3. (3, 1.5)

Work Step by Step

We found the table of values by plugging x-coordinates into the equation. So we chose 1, 2, 3. After substituting these into the equation, we found the y=coordinates to be -1,5, 0, 1.5, respectively. In order to graph the equation, we started from the y-intercept which is (0,-3) mentioned in our equation of the line and then worked our way up by going upwards 1.5 units and 1 unit to the right to plot our next point.
