Chapter 10 - Radical Expressions and Equations - 10-2 Simplifying Radicals - Lesson Check - Page 610: 8

Answer

$\frac{\sqrt 3}{2}$

Work Step by Step

$\frac{3}{\sqrt 12}$ To simplify we need to get the square root in the numerator. We mutiply $\frac{3}{\sqrt 12}$ by $\frac{\sqrt 12}{\sqrt 12}$ $\frac{3}{\sqrt 12} \times \frac{\sqrt 12}{\sqrt 12}$ $\frac{3 x \sqrt 12}{\sqrt 12 x \sqrt 12}$ $\frac{3 \sqrt 12}{\sqrt 144}$ The $\sqrt 12$ has a perfect square of 2 so we take it out and we are left with $\sqrt 3$ $\frac{6 \sqrt 3}{\sqrt 144}$ Square root of 144 is 12. Because 12 x 12 = 144 $\frac{6 \sqrt 3}{12}$ We divide 6 by twelve which is 2. $\frac{\sqrt 3}{2}$
