What is the initial conflict in the story? What are Eva's and David's stances? Why?
The story opens with Eva and David trying to figure out how they will spend their retirement. With their children now grown and out of the house, the repressed tension in their marriage is rising. David wants to sell their home and move into a retirement community called the Haven, while Eva refuses to leave their home. Eva spent decades raising their seven children and turning the house into the home it is today. Finally, she is free from all the child-rearing! She no longer has to worry about others or put their needs before her own. She wants to be able to roam through her home...
