With the popularity of fast food, the obesity rate has begun to proliferate in United State. Morgan Spurlock made an investigative documentary on the potential effects of fast food in respect of this phenomenon. Supersize Me is a 2004 American documentary, about Morgan Spurlock’s personal diet challenge of eating solely McDonald’s in 30 days. Morgan Spurlock exaggerates the consequences of eating fast food through the unreal experiment, therefore, the documentary of SuperSize Me is not trustworthy. Morgan employs selective interviews, facts and narrative voice over to abuse the audience to build confidence and trust in him.
Should we trust the experts’ interviews?
In the documentary, Morgan Spurlock employs experts’ interviews to convince the audience of the effects of fast food. Morgan directs to three doctors to establish his body is in a good condition. For the duration, he keeps visiting those doctors so as to show us the variation either in his physical status or psychological state.
