Mike
Mike was a human earthling born on Mars, then discovered by earthlings and returned to earth as an ambassador between the planets. Mike has magic powers, and he eventually forms a religion to promote open-mindedness, positivity, and happiness, but because he does not obey the social morals of American society, conservative critics rally around his home and murder him. Mike's story ends in heaven where he is made into an archangel for having been martyred as a prophet.
Sgt Gen Douglas
This is the man with the plan for Mike's life. Even though Mike is only a child, Sgt Gen Douglas already has his entire life mapped out, essentially as a military property. Fortunately, Douglas meets Jubal who explains the bigger picture, so Douglas begins to at as a liaison between Mike and the government instead of trying to control the boy.
Ben
Ben is a whistle-blower and a journalist. He knew to be suspicious when the US government came into possession of Mike's life, and sure enough, he quickly discovers a conspiracy afoot. He spooks the authorities before he can break the story, but he survives the ordeal and helps Mike escape, indirectly.
Jill
Jill is Ben's ex-girlfriend who works at the hospital. So, when Ben realizes that the US government has conspired to use Mike's life for government interests, Jill agrees to help spy on the child. In the end, things come to a head, and Jill helps Mike escape. She helps introduce him to Jubal.
Jubal
This rich playboy helps set a tone for Mike's life. When the government comes knocking to abduct Mike again, Jubal talks to the Sgt General himself, and he's powerful enough to change Douglas's mind. Jubal is extremely wealthy and he owns a mansion where Mike lives for much of his life. Jubal's fortune comes from his long list of successful, powerful careers in law, medicine, art, philosophy, and writing.
Digby
The leader of the Fosterite cult, this man is well meaning, but his aggressive evangelism makes Mike uncomfortable, and when they begin to argue, Digby scares Mike, and Mike instantly kills him, removing him to a different dimension. When Mike goes to heaven, he sits next to Digby and Digby's prophet, Foster himself.
