Capitalism

The film explores different levels of capitalism and how it surprisingly always manages to win against all odds. Cassius starts as a mere telemarketer and soon begins to see the fruits above. He gets promoted and soon life becomes easier. As he becomes more successful, so does the burden of his actions. The company he works for, like all companies in a capitalist system, is in an infinite search for profit. Cassius begins to question his moral standing. He can no longer support their actions of turning humans into equisapiens.

Greed

Despite Cassius’ best efforts to topple the company, it comes out more profitable and notable. A company founded under the unwritten laws of capitalism will always favor profit over what is considered a moral duty. The film exposes capitalism, the good and the bad. The lower working class is unable to work hard enough to get to the top and the upper class is focused on greedily increasing their wealth, overlooking the moral responsibilities they have to this world.

Racial Discrimination

Racial bias is probably one of the cornerstones of this film. Most characters including Cassius originate from a poor background which mainly consists of minorities. Cassius is black and for him to get promoted in the company, he has to adopt a “white voice” which appeals more to his customers than his regular voice. It’s seen as abandoning parts of yourself to get accepted into more elite groups.

Slavery

Cassius has to get rid of who he is culturally and mentally for him to succeed. When Steve tells Cassius about the equisapiens, the first one he sees is an African-American which he views as a form of slavery. In the end, the equisapiens come together and revolt against the company led by Cassius, now fully transformed into an equisapien.
