    What is Guitar's perspective on Hagar?

    Chapter 13 provides more information on what happened when Guitar found Hagar after her unsuccessful attempt to murder Milkman with the butcher knife. Guitar's perspective on Hagar and her situation is a mixture of pity and judgment. He is engulfed by sorrow looking at Hagar's dejectedness, and initially, he provides some empowering, encouraging words, telling her that Milkman's rejection doesn't make her worthless or unlovable. Quickly, however, he finds a way to blame Hagar and the women who raised her for what happened. He believes that Hagar's overpowering love is fundamentally wrong because it seeks to control another person....
