Richard Pratt
Richard Pratt is the character from the story "Taste". He is a famous gourmand. In the story, he tricks his dinner host Mike pretending to know the exact source of the wine served with a bet on his daughter's hand. He saw the label of the wine preceding the dinner.
Mary Maloney
Mary Maloney is the main character of the story "Lamb to the slaughter". Her husband comes home after work and announces he wants divorce. She kills him with a hit on the head with a large lamb leg she prepared for dinner.

William Botibol
The main character from the story "Dip in the Pool". He devises a plan to jump from a ship he travels on so that he can slow down the journey and win a gamble. Unfortunately, the old lady he relied on to get help from him is senile and once she tells that there is a man calling for help in the water nobody believes her.
Bruce Foxley
In the story "Galloping Foxley" the narrator tells a story about being abused by an older boy called Bruce Foxley after he's joined by a man on the train, whom he thinks is the Galloping Foxley.
Drioli
Drioli is the main character from the story "Skin". He recognizes the paintings in a gallery to be by a boy he used to know, now his works being highly valued and shouts that he has a painting like that on his back when they try to escort him out. Drioli soon realizes that he made a terrible mistake, revealing of having a highly valued art on his skin.

Harry Pope is a character from "Poison". He is convinced that he has a highly poisonous snake lying on his belly while in bed and his roommate calls a doctor and so begins a careful process of trying to remove the non-existent snake without it biting Harry.

He is a character from the story "Neck" and inherits a huge fortune making him susceptible to fraudulent brides.

Klausner is the main character from "The Sound Machine". He designs a machine that enables him to hear the cries of pain of plant while they are being harmed.

Lionel Lampson is the main character of the story "Nunc Dimittis". He devises a plan to humiliate a girl he's been seeing after another woman tells him that she called him a bore.
Adolph Knipe
Adolph Knipe is the main character of "The Great Automatic Grammatizator". He designs a machine to automatically write literary works which becomes a huge success and bringing various famous authors under Knipe's contract.
Claud
Claud is the main character from a collection of stories of his adventures under the title Claud's Dog. To make some money to be able to marry his sweetheart he devises a plan to win in a gamble of dog race, which doesn't go so well because even the bookmakers have their own cheating plans to make money and steal from winners.
