The narrator is shocked to see this because she does not believe that a person can perform that magic. Seeing the narrator's expression, her father tells her that you do not have to be a genius to that, and he demonstrates to her using an onion, which transforms into swans within minutes.

Yan is running a cooking program in a TV program in which he educates views on the various cooking methods. The narrator's father is one of Yan's big fans, and he ensures that he does not miss any program. The narrator's father takes notes while watching the program to ensure that he does not forget. The reader realizes that the narrator is influenced by her father to love to watch Yan's programs. While Yan is offering one of his critical cooking methods, he tells his viewers to take a wok on the wild.

Her father realizes that she is brilliant, just like him when he was a young school-going child. He tells the narrator that she has a forehead like his, which is why she is brilliant.
