Silver Sparrow follows a story of two half-sisters, Dana Lynn Yarboro and Chaurisse Witherspoon, who live separate lives but only Dana knows of her other sister.
Dana is a beautiful sixteen-year-old teenage girl who has grown up knowing her father, James, has another family. Dana knows of how James met her mother while he was still married to his first wife and how the two got married in a different state as James refused to leave his first wife.
James only spends one day a week with Dana and her mother. Dana realizes that her father only sees her as his other daughter. Her jealousy for her half-sister grows. She feels that her father loves Chaurisse more than he loves her since he spends most of his time with her. Dana grows impatient and decides to track down Chaurisse without her parent’s consent.
After Dana locates Chaurisse, the two become surprisingly good friends. However, Dana chooses to keep her real identity a secret in fear of her father’s reaction. Chaurisse is different from her sister Dana. She is less popular and more uptight. On the other hand, Dana is very popular and enjoys the thrill of taking unnecessary risks.
One day, the two girls are out having fun when their car gets a flat tire. Chaurisse calls her father for help and the secret is finally out. Chaurisse’s mother, who always brags about her loving husband to her friends at the salon, is embarrassed after finding out that he had been cheating on her for years. She however decides to stay with him. James gets angry at Dana and abandons her and her mother.
Years later, Dana and Chaurisse meet and Dana has a daughter. She is determined to raise her child differently from her parents.
