    Research

    Objective:

    Students will conduct research so they can express why some may take masculine pseudonyms and why it's important to know the history of women writers.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.9-10.3

    Structure:

    In this activity, students will conduct their own research on women writers to learn more about how they've been perceived throughout history and why some might take pen names. To begin, students will answer questions regarding Mary Evans and her pen name, George Eliot. This can be done in a class discussion, small group discussions, or as an individual activity in which they will write their answers down....
