Leonard Gray
Leonard Gray is a seventeen-year-old teenager who kills one of his classmates. Being one of the few
"outsider" kids in school, Gray is constantly bullied by his peers. His parents fail to notice their son’s depressive state. Moreover, the school administration chooses to turn a blind eye to the bullying cases forwarded by students. As Gray becomes more alienated, so do his thoughts.
Before school starts gray and his friends enter the school to write some things than gray strays off to his own plan. Gray kills himself after shooting serval others than leaving a handwritten diary describing his experiences and motives.
Cameron Porter
Cameron is Gray’s best friend who is an African American. Like Gray, he also feels alienated and is constantly bullied. His parents are more concerned with his tuition than his emotional wellbeing. The parents are indifferent and punitive. Cameron’s emotional frustration lures him closer to Gray and the two boys quickly become friends. However, Cameron does not take part in the shooting.
Carla
Carla is Gray’s girlfriend. She is also withdrawn like the others. She wears dark, gothic make-up and clothes signifying her rebellious nature. Her parents are never present, they are too out of it see their daughter’s drastic change in behavior or they're own.
Dr. Ewing
Dr. Ewing is a psychologist who interviews Cameron shortly after the shooting. Unlike the FBI agents, Cameron feels comfortable with the doctor. He opens up about his friendship with Gray and the state of Gray’s mind in the moments leading to the shooting.
