The irony of human actions
The author uses his science fiction book to depict people's ignorance and bad habits towards the environment. Human beings know that the pollution of the environment endangers life and can easily lead to the extinction of the earth in future years, but they continue with their bad habits. The moon's destruction is a possible reflection of what will happen to earth in the future due to human encroachment. The reader finds it ironic that despite people knowing the dangers of environmental destruction, they continue with their bad habits forgetting about the sustainability of future generations.
The irony of cannibalism in space
One thousand five hundred healthiest and youngest people are taken to space to continue human life when life on earth becomes unbearable. Ironically, after many years, the people in space become ungovernable because they form different opposing groups. Due to a lack of peace and cooperation, people cannot do agriculture, and the food supply runs out. People start eating each other because that is the only solution to survive. Ironically, cannibalism reduces the number of people in space to only eight women after five thousand years!
Pregnancy without physical mating
The book ‘Seveneves' by Stephenson provides the Satire of technology in which women can get pregnant without having physical sex with men. After five years of stay in space, cannibalism reduced the human population to eight women who survived. When life becomes bearable, they come to earth, but one woman has reached menopause. The other seven women can repopulate the earth using human genetic archives.
The political Satire
Political affairs should be based on ideologies that benefit people and ensure human sustainability for many years to come. Ironically, the ‘Seveneves' book paints a sad reality, where civil disorder and decentralization are products of political leaders after serving their interests. The population in space almost becomes extinct because of political disorder. Therefore, the order reminds readers that they have the moral responsibility of voicing their concerns to ensure that political leaders serve the people's interests.
The satire of the scientists
The reader finds it satirical that the life of the future generations lies in the hands of the scientists. The earth is becoming polluted, and it is being destroyed daily by human activity. Therefore, the world's future lies in the hands of the scientists who are working day and night to sustain human life after the earth's destruction. For instance, if it were not for the human genetic archive in the Cloud ship, the human beings could have completely disappeared from the face of the earth.
