Seedfolks Study Guide

Seedfolks is a children’s novella written by Paul Fleischman and illustrated by Judy Peterson. The novella was published in 1997. In the novella, a culturally diverse group of residents in the Gibb Street area of Cleveland, Ohio, come together to turn a vacant lot into a vibrant community garden. This diversity is reflected in the novella's unique style of narration by thirteen different characters from distinct cultural backgrounds and countries of origin.

The novel was awarded the ALA Best Books for Young Adults in 1998 and the Buckeye Children's Book Award for Grades 6-8 in 1999. Fleischman has also adapted Seedfolks as a one-act play.
