Ruth Bader Ginsburg: The Biography Imagery

Ruth Bader Ginsburg: The Biography Imagery

The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court is associated with imagery of prestige, stature, and authority. As such, Ginsburg's appointment to the Supreme Court represents her legal successes. In addition to this, it also emphasizes her nervousness as she prepared for her cases in front of the Supreme Court.

Harvard University

In a similar sense to the Supreme Court, Harvard University is associated with imagery of prestige and academic success, meaning that Martin and Ruth's admission to Harvard law school is a testament to their success and dedication. This is significant, as Ruth's attendance at Harvard and her success there tells us that she was incredibly gifted; however, she was still overlooked at many law firms after graduating.

The Front Cover

Imagery is used on the front cover of the text, in order to make it obvious it is about the legal icon. For example, in the picture Ruth is wearing her iconic glasses, so we can tell straight away it was her.
