a banknote worth one pound sterling

hackles

erectile hairs along the back of a dog or other animal that rise when it is angry or alarmed

porridge

common breakfast dish of oatmeal boiled in water or milk

truant

a student who stays away from school without leave or explanation

struth (strewth)

a slang exclamation expressing surprise or exasperation

scrap
