Structure:

Obtain a copy of PBS's Eyes on the Prize Documentary, or a similar video resource, and show students the section addressing the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

After completing the video, lead a class discussion on how Mama trying to organize a way for the farmers to shop in Vicksburg is analogous to the Montgomery boycott. Students should bear in mind that Roll of Thunder was published in the 1970s, so it is very likely that the boycott of the Wallace store is an allusion to...
