Robopocalypse Background

Robopocalypse Background

“Robopocalypse” is a science fiction novel written by Daniel H. Wilson. The novel explores the very realistic fear of artificial intelligence, that has been plaguing humanity for decades. The novel is set in a world overrun by war that is being fought between the humans and an AI force called Archos.

Cormac Wallace, the main character, discovers an archive that reveals the truth behind how it all started. Robots were a normal part of human life before the creation of Archos, a human-hating artificial intelligence that turn all the robots of the world against humanity. Only a few groups of human beings survived the war, and they slowly built a resistance, which Cormac Wallace is a part of.

What’s interesting about the novel is that it is entirely written in the present tense. The novel was first published in 2011 and became an instant New York Times bestseller.
