The Poetic Speaker and the Exploration of Life's Journeys: Analysis of "Journey to the North Coast" and "Byron Bay Winter" 12th Grade
The unexpected may serve as a reminder or a surprise to us as we journey through life. The voice of Robert Gray is used to describe and explore the various adventures he has taken throughout his life. Robert Gray is a poet from Australia whose work is heavily influenced by the environment. He grew up in the post World War II era and currently resides on the north shore. His feelings about life, his experiences, and his views are expressed in his many poems to demonstrate his Journey. Because his poetry can be understood in so many different situations and incorporates universal themes that are pertinent to cultures past, present, and future, it has such an enduring quality. I will be focusing upon Gray's most memorable poems, Journey to the North coast, 24 Poems and Byron Bay Winter. Each of these poems brings us towards a sense of place, exposing both its strength and its sorrow, and urging us to listen for what our land is asking of us and exploring on a life journey that Robert Gray has experienced.
