Walter is the protagonist of "W.S" by L.P Hartley and is a novelist who is haunted by one of his characters. After receiving a number of postcards signed "W.S," Streeter mysteriously dies.

Christine

The protagonist of Rosemary Timperley's story "Harry," Christine is an adopted child who is about to start school. She then starts seeing a person called Harry, who she claims is her brother. However, nobody else can see him.

Peter Wood

Peter Wood is the protagonist of "Corner Shop" by Cynthia Asquith, a story that follows Peter as he visits an antique shop and purchases an item that he is thrilled with. However, upon returning to the shop, Peter discovers something foreboding and mysterious.

Harry

Harry is Christine's "imaginary friend," and it is claimed that he is her brother.
