Grove

a small wood, orchard, or group of trees

Sorrel

a horse with a light-reddish-brown coat

Quiver

an archer's portable case for holding arrows

Evanescent

soon passing out of sight, memory, or existence; quickly fading or disappearing

Brigand

a member of a gang that ambushes and robs people in forests and mountains

Bodhisattva

a being who is able to reach nirvana, but who delays doing so out of compassion in order to save suffering beings

Kwannon

an East Asian deity of mercy; a bodhisattva associated with compassion, venerated by Mahayana Buddhists

Inexorable

impossible to stop or prevent

Brazier

a portable heater consisting of a pan or stand for holding lighted coals

Scabbard

a sheath for the blade of a sword or dagger, typically made of leather or metal

Gaunt

(of a person) lean and haggard, esp. because of suffering, hunger, or age

a deep-seated feeling of dislike; aversion

a person under the authority or control of another within an organization
