Pyramid of Bone Background

Pyramid of Bone Background

"Pyramid of Bone" is a poem written by Thylias Moss and published in 1989. Most of Moss's poems discuss race and gender, but "Lessons From A Mirror", part of "Pyramid of Bone", discusses other sad aspects of life. The poem talks about what it is like to be empty, and seems much like something that Moss would write. Moss is known for very interesting metaphors and similes, shown in "Pyramid of Bone'.

This poem is a great read for someone that just needs a little picking up, since it fully encompasses Moss's caring character. Some of the metaphors mentioned are Snow White and losing a tooth, proving the prior point. The poem "Lessons From A Mirror" gives a unique perspective on how sad it can be to have no one else but yourself.
