In this section, how does Twain mock the Judge’s adherence to his code of honor? What is this honor worth, according to Twain?
For the Judge, not obeying the laws of honor would mean his “degradation from his rank as a gentleman”, and he fights the duel according to those laws. But later he stoops to election fraud by buying votes, and he viciously slanders the twins without any shred of evidence. Of course, he’s also an upholder of slavery, which is an immoral and unjust system. The Judge’s honor, according to Twain, is all form and no substance.
