The Caveman
As narrator, the caveman/actor is never named. He plays the role of a caveman in a living display in a theme park. Dedicated to his role, he rarely breaks character and then usually only to criticize his co-workers for their lack of commitment, especially Janet. He convinces Greg, their boss, that she should actually be fired.
Janet
Janet is the other actor in the them park living display. When their provisions don't appear one day, the actors are starving. Janet cannot maintain or refuses to maintain the ruse through this period. Again, she breaks character when her son appears with his troubles.
Greg Nordstrom
He is the supervisor at the theme park. Due to lack of attendance, he is downsizing. He intends to fire Janet, but he appeals to her co-worker for a full report of her job performance, which is unfavorable. After firing Janet, he hires a new woman who fulfill the role better. He informs the caveman to keep his distance from Janet during the transition process. On the morning of the new woman's installment, Greg leaves a note for the caveman which talks about the relevance of truth and how it is dependent upon the individual.
The New Woman
Janet's replacement is granted little to no characterization. She arrives abruptly and doesn't speak English, as she shouldn't. When she looks up at the caveman, however, she shows her face to have been surgically altered to more closely resemble a prehistoric person.
