The teenagers are set to start their journey, but ironically, London is suddenly covered by an intense fog, forcing the train company to cancel all the train services. The teenagers are frustrated, and they decide to proceed to a hotel where they seek accommodation.

Max Adey denotes masculinity which attracts female's attention. Both Amabel and Julia Wray are beautiful girls, and they are all interested in Max. Despite Max having a historical relationship with Amabel, he is more interested in Julia, who he is secretly courting. Satirically, women are traditionally willing to share a man, reminding readers of the ancient courting culture.
The title irony of the title 'Party Going.'
The title 'Party Going' by Green embodies the teenage culture. The movie entails rich teenagers as its characters, and most of the time, they prefer partying, having relationships, and sex. Ironically, ‘Party Going’ does not have an action to illustrate party events attended by the rich teens.

Astonishingly, the rich teenagers are more concerned about the cancellation of their party, while the rest of the nation is worried about the possible war which is looming to occur. The reader finds it satirical that the teenagers are not concerned about their future because they only concentrate on the present.

The characters in 'Party Going' are depicted as rich kids who have everything they need in this world. For instance, they have enough money to cross borders to get the entertainment they need. Ironically, the reader realizes that these teenagers are not satisfied with life despite all their riches. For instance, they find the railway hotel boring simply because they think nothing is pleasing. On the contrary, the hotel has all the amenities and facilities to make them happy and engaged. Therefore, the reader realizes that wealth is not the absolute solution to happiness.
