Our Share of Night Character List

Juan Peterson

Juan Peterson, a tall, blond man in his 30s, lives in an abandoned house in Buenos Aires with his lone child, Gaspar. As the only link between the Order and its deity, a ravenous Darkness, he is erratic and sexually omnivorous, seducing everyone in his path. He is bereaved over the death of his wife Rosario and is living on borrowed time due to a serious cardiac problem. Despite his flaws, he is desperate to keep Gaspar safe and will go to any length to do so. He is unethical and frequently succumbs to his inner sadist, beating and berating his son (and others) to alleviate the monster responsible for his suffering. Despite his behavior, Gaspar still loves him. He is determined and resilient, and he does not give up even when the odds are stacked against him. His character is an example of how love and courage can be powerful forces in overcoming the darkness of the past.

Gaspar

Gaspar is a young boy who has recently lost his mother, Rosario. He is the son of Juan. He is determined to keep his father safe from the Order, a cult seeking immortality. He is also inquisitive and drawn to the unknown, as evidenced by his fascination with the woman with the punk Cleopatra look. Gaspar is also intelligent, recognizing the Order's harm and the role his family has played in it. He is compassionate and understanding, empathizing with the victims of the military dictatorship. Gaspar is also a survivor, as evidenced by his ability to overcome the traumatic events of his past. Furthermore, Gaspar is highly resourceful and intelligent, able to think on his feet and come up with creative solutions to problems. He forges his path and ultimately triumphs over the daunting obstacles in his way.

Rosario

Rosario is Juan's late wife and Gaspar's mother. She is Mercedes's daughter. She was described as empathic, and her death was accidental. Rosario is portrayed as nice, as evidenced by the fact that people in the story seek her out to find out what happened to their missing loved ones. Rosario is also linked to the Order, a mysterious and evil cult seeking immortality, and her death served as a warning to her family about the cult's dangers. She is portrayed as selfless because she gave up her life to protect her family. She is also a symbol of hope and love, as her death brings Juan and Gaspar together during a difficult time.

Mercedes

Mercedes is Rosario's mother and Gaspar's grandmother. She is described as the Order's stone-cold matriarch, a mystical and murderous cult. She is portrayed as a powerful figure who shepherds her family and is determined to ensure the Order's survival. She is cunning and ambitious, seeking to amass wealth and wield power over the cult's deity. Mercedes is also portrayed as a ruthless and unforgiving figure, as evidenced by her refusal to give false hope to the mothers of young people kidnapped by the dictatorship. Mercedes is a formidable presence, determined to protect her family's legacy at any cost.

Tali

Tali is Rosario's half-sister and is known for her ability to read tarot cards. Tali is eager to assist those seeking answers about their missing loved ones and does not give false hope. She is also described as having a punk Cleopatra look, with dark eyes and visible muscles. Tali is understanding and caring toward Gaspar, telling him that she thinks his name is fantastic. Tali is also a source of comfort for Gaspar and his father, Juan, offering a supportive shoulder to lean on during their time of grief. Tali is also brave, as seen when she stands up to the powerful forces of the Order and attempts to protect Gaspar from their dangerous legacy.

Stephen

Stephen is Juan's best friend and a casual hookup for him. He is described as empathic, implying that he is a kind and understanding person with a strong emotional connection to those around him. He is also loyal and supportive, as he has known Juan for a long time. He has a nonjudgmental attitude, as he does not judge Juan for his promiscuity or volatile behavior.

Luis

Luis is Juan's brother, who had fled Argentina to escape the government crackdowns. He is mentioned as a possible haven for Gaspar, and Juan hopes to leave the boy in the care of his brother. He is described as a kind and caring individual who could provide Gaspar with a safe and secure home. He is also a contrast to the Order's maniacal cult and a foil to Juan's more volatile behavior.
