Analyzing Similarities Between the Oryx & Crake Apocalypse and Global Warming College

Oryx & Crake is a novel that touches upon many themes and elements including technology, human relationships, and the environment. The theme that sticks out most to me is the tampering with nature element because with global warming and climate change, the events of the novel are not too far from reality in certain ways. While an apocalypse is very unlikely in our lifetimes, the toll humans are taking on the environment and our planet is crippling the very infrastructure that we are supposed to preserve. Global warming is a real issue in our world today as the melting of the polar ice caps, warming of the Earth’s core temperature, and changes in precipitation patterns are all current issues that may cause our world to turn into a similar setting as the world of Oryx & Crake if we aren’t careful.

From 1910 to now, the number of glaciers in Glacier National Park has decreased from over 150 glaciers to less than 30.
